Job Description

We’re building an exciting new company that is looking to change how the public views and uses the aviation industry. We are embarking on an exciting new chapter in the development of a Personal Electric Aircraft. We have pushed beyond the concept stage and are now moving into the development and certification of the production version.

We're looking for an outstanding Aerodynamics Engineer who combines superb technical knowledge and experience with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This role is to develop from the ground up the aerodynamic characteristics and to produce the loads data for this new aircraft. The role is full time and will require the successful candidate to be very flexible in terms of work content and to be well-motivated.

The successful candidate must have a fundamental knowledge of aircraft aerodynamics at a Macro and Micro scale and be able to convert this into useable loads and flight data for the team to determine the structure, performance and control characteristics of the aircraft. The successful candidate must be used to aviation standards and hold the appropriate signatory.


Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Development of aerodynamic loads and characteristics to aerospace standards
  • Assist in the tuning of the aircraft structure through aerodynamic data
  • Assist the propulsion team where required
  • Meeting the Means of Compliance standards required by the authorities
  • Assisting in the testing of components and aircraft to determine aerodynamic performance
  • Generating alternate proposals when required
  • Assist with the build and fault-finding of the project

Basic Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of Aerodynamics and Load generation
  • Hands on experience of developing aircraft or other flying structure
  • Detailed knowledge of current and developing aircraft technology
  • Experience and proficiency of at least one modern CFD package (ANSYS Fluent/CFX preferred)

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience of certifying to aerospace standards
  • Masters or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in communicating with management, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs
  • Rotating wing aerodynamics experience
  • Hold Signatory to DOA aviation levels
