Managing Director - Lumo

Contract hours: Full time

Salary: £120k - £140k

We are looking for a free-thinking, entrepreneurial Managing Director (MD) to take control and oversee all business operations, people and sales for Lumo - a new type of energy service. You will be responsible for the overall success of the business; reporting directly into the group CEO.

We’re not looking for a seasoned MD - we see this as a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to take on their first MD role. The ideal candidate will be a strategist and a leader able to steer the company on the most profitable direction - while also implementing its vision, mission and long term goals.

You will be working closely with the existing Lumo team, and be in charge of hiring more great additions, in order to deliver a service that customers truly value.

We want our users to be safe in the knowledge that they are receiving expert guidance - by taking their actual usage, searching the entire energy market, and recommending the right plan for their specific circumstances. Our mission is to re-imagine the energy industry - to give customers more data and more tools, and a better customer experience.

You’ll be taking on an existing high-quality product and service, with an awesome team, infrastructure and sales channels in place - and be expected to really grow it. We want a million customers in three years time - so growing the team, managing the P&L and developing the existing service to meet our goals is where you’ll need to focus your time and effort.

The product you currently see in the market, is not a fair representation of what we’re building - we’ve got a lot planned, and you’ll be joining at an exciting time!

Experience & Qualifications:

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with a strong commercial understanding - with proven experience in really driving the sales and marketing of a product or service.

Ideally, you’ll have an e-commerce background, but you’ll also have:

  • Entrepreneurial, ambitious and tenacity
  • Proven experience and leadership in a senior role
  • Proven ability to build and manage teams to deliver a specific vision
  • Demonstrable experience in developing strategy and business plans
  • Proven ability to prioritise and delegate
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • At least a 2:1 degree from a top tier University
