We’re building an exciting new company that is looking to change how the public views and uses the aviation industry. We are embarking on an exciting new chapter in the development of a Personal Electric Aircraft. We have pushed beyond the concept stage and are now moving into the development and certification of the production version.

We're looking for an outstanding Powertrain Systems Engineer who combines superb technical knowledge and experience with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This role is to define and develop powertrain systems from battery pack definition and BMS through to consumption. The role is full time and will require the successful candidate to be very flexible in terms of work content and to be well-motivated.

The successful candidate must have a fundamental knowledge of powertrain systems at a Macro and Micro scale. Knowledge of aerospace standards, qualification and certification requirements would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include:

  • Definition/Selection of battery and BMS technology.
  • Design and definition of powertrain systems to aerospace standards.
  • Assist in the definition of other aircraft systems.
  • Assist the definition of aircraft architecture.
  • Meeting the Means of Compliance standards required by the authorities.
  • Assisting in the testing of components and aircraft to determine systems performance.
  • Generating alternate proposals when required.
  • Assist with the build and fault-finding of the projects.

Basic Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Power Engineering, Aerospace Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of battery technology and BMS systems.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems.
  • Hands on experience of developing aircraft systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of current and developing aircraft technologies.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience of aircraft qualification and certification processes.
  • Masters or PhD in Electrical Power Engineering, Aerospace Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in communicating with management, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs.
  • Hands on experience of designing and installing systems.
